Intro to Handgun Safety and Operation

A 90 minute, NO FIRE seminar focused on gun safety, including how to safely handle a handgun, basic operation of semi-automatic pistols, and an overview on ammunition and how to prepare for your first time at the range. This course (as a class, private or semi-private session) is required prior to taking private lessons

Private Instruction

Training is a MUST for anyone who owns a firearm. Even a concealed carry permit class does not equip you to safely use a handgun, nor does it train you to use it effectively in real life situations. You do not need your own gun for lessons; but, if you have one, bring it.

  • Skills Pre-requisite: New Shooters must attend an Intro to Safety and Handling course (either as a class, private, or semi-private session)

  • Type: Live Fire / Range and/or Classroom

  • Cost: Varies. CLICK HERE

  • Equipment Provided, when needed: Eye + Ear Protection, Semi-automatic lesson pistol, Targets

  • Equipment Required: Ammunition - round count varies, may be available for purchase at lesson, if needed

Using Pepper Spray (OC)

Layers are the key to the best personal safety plans and OC (pepper) Spray is a must have component. In the words of the “Legendary Lawman,” Chuck Haggard: “You need something between a harsh word and a gun” and OC/Pepper Spray does just that! Contrary to popular belief, pepper spray is not an automatic off-the-shelf solution. Know how to use your tools before you're in a "need to use" situation. Course objectives include:

  • Knowing the different types of active ingredients in sprays

  • Understanding the reactions elicited from different active ingredients

  • Common myths, misinformation, misunderstandings around sprays

  • Real life practice with inert units

Pre-requisite: None

Length of Class: 2 hours

Buying Your First Handgun

You've been wanting to buy a personal handgun for a while but keep putting it off because, frankly it's intimidating. Let's fix that in this 90 minute workshop where you'll leave with a solid understanding of the gun shop and the gun buying experience. We'll even role play what gun shop counter interactions look like so you can leave feeling confident about making the purchase!

Handgun Cleaning

You have the gun. You're learning to shoot. You need to know how to care for your equipment. Proper maintenance and cleaning of your tool is an essential responsibility for all gun owners. In this class, you will learn to safely take down your handgun (that means take it apart), properly clean and oil, and reassemble.

Pre-requisite: You own handgun, cleaning supplies (bring your own, or purchase for pickup in class)

Type: Classroom Seminar

Length of Class: 1.5 hours

Cost: $270 (up to 6 people), $45/person for additional attendees

Equipment Required: Personal Firearm, Cleaning Solvent + Oil (available thru She Shoots), Bore Brush, Cleaning Patches/Rag, Cleaning mat (optional - available thru She Shoots)
